The Governing body of the community is Christian Meditation Ireland clg, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee with charitable status. The National Coordinator, who is appointed by the Director of WCCM following consultation with the Board, also acts as Chairperson of the Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for ensuring that the company is appropriately managed, achieving the objectives agreed by the Board and compliant with all standards legally required of limited companies and charitable organisations. The Board makes annual submissions to the Companies Office and the Charities Regulator. The Board manages the business on behalf of the members who are the ultimate owners of the company. The members are listed in the Register of Members which is maintained by the company; they are individuals who have been associated with the community over many years and who have agreed, on the nomination of the directors from time to time, to act as members. There are currently 22 members on the register.

The Board reports formally to its members once a year at the AGM. Although it is not an obligation of its constitution, CMI clg has developed the practice of holding an annual forum which precedes the AGM and to which all who participate in CMI meditation groups are invited to attend. At the forum the directors give an account of their stewardship of CMI clg for the previous year. Those who attend the forum are normally invited to observe, but not participate, in the AGM.
Our constitution states that the number of Directors shall be no more than 15 and not less than three. The Board may appoint new members at a Board meeting and welcomes inquiries from anyone who may be willing to serve the community as a director. Each director takes responsibility for some aspect of the life of the community. There are currently 11 directors as indicated below.
