Time Out for You - take just 2 minutes

The centre for action and contemplation has a range of resources online for anyone who wishes to deepen their contemplative, spiritual journey – they can be accessed here. The video to the right will help you take just two minutes out from your busy day where you can discover that your deepest you is Love. We are so easily trapped on the outer circumference of the inner richness of our lives. We need to take time to acknowledge and move towards that inner richness and we can do that by building up the habit of taking a few moments every day to simply be. Doing so can help you to develop a daily practice of meditation. All the better if it leads you to build up a daily practice of silent meditation

World Children’s Day is UNICEF’s annual day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Adopted in 1989, it has become the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history and has helped transform children’s lives around the world.

Click here to learn more about the Changing Childhood Project. Across almost every country surveyed,  young people believe children today face more pressure to succeed than their parents did as kids. On average, 59% of young people surveyed agreed that this is so.

Children’s Day is on Monday, 20 November this year. Why not make a special point of meditating with your class on that day, even if it is not one of the regular days for meditation in your school?  Meditation contributes to the wellbeing of children in so many ways. They say it helps them to let go of all the drama in their lives and helps them to be themselves and to find the goodness inside. Please help us to spread the word! Talk to other teachers about how the children in your class benefit from their regular meditation in school. And, please do encourage children to meditate at home and to teach their parents as well!

Do You Use Our Meditation Timers?

Noel Keating’s YouTube page, Meditation for Wellbeing, has a selection of short videos that can be used for introducing children to meditation or as short refreshers on different aspects of meditation. Have you watched any of them with your class?

Have You Downloaded Any Posters Yet?

Small Deeps   by Edwina Gateley

We are too complicated.
We seek God here, there and everywhere.
We seek God in holy places, in books,
in rules, regulations, rites and rituals.
We seek God in pomp and glory and ceremony,
in relics and statues
and visions and shrines.
We seek God in Popes and Fathers and saints.
Ah, like lost bewildered children,
we seek outside the God
who waits to be found
in the small deeps
of the human heart.
